Who are Muslims?

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

While reading the book of 21st century - the "Facebook", I realized one thing.

Well, more of a question really.

Who are Muslims?

Faith As a Nation?

I realized that in Malaysia itself, there were and still many unresolved issues about faith. OUR faith.

Probably the same thing is felt and experienced by young teens such as mua (me). Or maybe young adults such as mua.. (smiles). Well, okey. So I guess I'm not so young anymore. (smiles)

It's been going in and out of my mind that lately, or more like FOREVER, that we have a problem with unity. Ahah! That's right. U.N.I.T.Y.

While fans unite under the banner "Manchester United" or "Barcelona", it is funny..I'm telling you, it is...sarcastic. Yeah..it's just awkward.

That we, muslims cannot unite under the banner of FAITH.

Football..sports..hobbies. People seem to like having things in common. Well, can't help it I guess. Humans are afterall social beings.

But what I can't understand is just...why is it we can't unite when we SHARE the SAME FAITH?

(chuckles awkwardly - use your powerful brain to imagine)

Ok. We talk about "Kenapa Melayu tak boleh bersatu?" "Kenapa Melayu mesti berpecah?"

Well first of all we have to think. Yep, that'r right, let's use our brains for a change. Not just charge blindly with that fistful anger in that chest.

Number 1. Melayu. Apa itu Melayu? What is Malay?

Malay is a nation. Malays in Malaysia are Malays. Malays living in Indonesia are Malays. Malays living in UK, are still Malays.

Oh but wait. Malays in Malaysia, are Malaysians. Malays in Indonesia, are Indonesians. Malays in the UK, well..they can be Britons or anak dagang.

Oooh..that's where it went wrong. A nation has BORDERS.

No, not the Borders bookstore at BTS.

I'm talking about the human-drawn borders of God's earth. To put it simply, it's like cutting a cake. You divide them among your friends to share. Sharing is caring, isn't it?

To me, there's nothing wrong in wanting to own property. Or saying this is my house, and that is your land.

What is wrong, my dear brothers and sisters, is that we let the borders become permanent.

What is wrong, is when we fail to look beyond the physical boundaries.

What is wrong..is when we FORGOT. We forgot we are brothers in FAITH.

We forgot about the stronger bond that binds us together. Which strengthens us in the face of obstacles. Which lights hope in houses filled with despair.

We forgot about "La Ilaha Illallah, Muhammmadur Rasulullah" (there is no God but Allah & Muhammad is His messenger).

My friends,

Let's ask ourselves. There's no need to point fingers at others. That's enough. Enough of blaming others.

The one person that you need to ask is, yourself.

Where has that faith gone to? Where is that nur (light in arabic) that used to shine our hearts? Did it leave? Why did it leave? Because of something we did?

Because we didn't believe in it? In Iman?

I suppose so. I can't think of another explanation for what I'm seeing, hearing, reading.

When His servants forget about Him...is it true He forgets about His servants?

I know..I'm not the best of mankind. Prophet Muhammad is. All the prophets were. But I know. I have experience enough to say without a doubt, "That is not true. At all."

Allah Taala is not like that. Please, refrain ourselves from saying something we know nothing of. Don't say things like that when..when the Quran is not our best friend. Yet.

Study up. Read the Quran. Finished? Then read it again. And again. And again. And I dare promise you.

You won't get bored. Never. (smiles)

Who are you?

It's not that hard of a question.

Who are you? Dare ga? (Japanese) Man anta? (Arabic) Siapa anda? (Malay)

I would have given more examples if I knew more (smiles).

No matter what different language our tongue moves with,
No matter what different skin colour we are born with,
No matter what different soil we live on,

Remember one thing.

We S.H.A.R.E. ONE thing in COMMON.

The most common (simple) thing you can think of.

The most common (spoken) phrase.

"La Ilaha Illallah, Muhammadur rasulullah".

And THAT, is all that MATTERS.

So..did you get the answer? (smiles)
