I've heard of corrective tape, but "CORRECITVE RAPE"??

When I first read it, my eyes popped out of their sockets and my jaws dropped about 3cm! (I used a ruler, so it’s not quite accurate..lol) I don’t know about anyone else but “Rape ‘cure’ for lesbians” makes quite an impression as a news headline, prompting me to quickly read it. Here’s a few excerpt:

JOHANNESBURG: Lesbians living in South Africa are being raped by men who believe it will “cure” them of their sexual orientation, a report has revealed.
Women are reporting a rising tide of brutal homophobic attacks and murders and the widespread use of “corrective rape” as o form of punishment.
World pg38, New Sunday Times, March 15, 2009

Sad isn’t it? It’s one problem on top of another. Maybe I should rephrase that; one bad deed leads to another. Homosexual behaviour is not something new. Al-Quran has told about tales of the people of Sodom and Amurah/Gommorah(in the bible) or better known as the people of Prophet Lut a.s. Among other numerous sins like robbery and preying on the weak, the people of Sodom and Amurah like nothing better than to do homosexual relationships, men among men, and thus promoting lesbian behaviour as well. And what happened to them? Allah s.w.t with His Al-Mighty power turned their land upside down and rained upon them fiery hot stones from the sky!(Surah Hud 11:82-83, taken from magazine SOLUSI issue-5,2009, pg 90). Thus, the great people of Sodom met their end.
Today, historians have identified the location of Sodom and Amurah at south west of the Dead Sea. Burn marks on the remnants of the city’s buildings are still clearly visible. According to SOLUSI issue-5, soil and ash remnants found at the site contain calcium sulphate and calcium carbonate, the product of limestone(the buildings’ material) and sulphur burnt together. The place is now called the Valley of Salt, which is actually located in between the borderlines of Israel, Jordan, Jerusalem and Palestine.(pg90) Are these things mere coincidences? As a muslim, I believe this is fate or qada’ and qadar.
Coming back to the troubling issue of “corrective rape”, I find the term itself utterly disgusting! How on earth can they say rape is correct? I’m baffled, so to speak. Rape is nothing more than a crime, a social disease and most of all, it’s got the word “SIN” imprinted all over it! What has gotten into men these days? Is this really the so-called caliph? Shame on you humans, and the shame is on me too. Dear Allah, Ya Ghafurur Rahim, forgive us all.
